Choco Story Zócalo: Cocoa and Chocolate Museum

Did you know that cacao was more valuable than gold for the Aztecs and Mayans? With this ticket to the Choco Story Zócalo Museum, you’ll immerse yourself in the fascinating world of chocolate in the heart of Mexico City’s historic center.

At this interactive museum, you’ll explore the ancient history of cacao and discover how this sacred bean conquered palaces, crossed oceans, and transformed into the delicacy enjoyed around the world today. You’ll also learn about its transformation into chocolate through exhibitions and educational displays that combine tradition and entertainment.

The tour includes rooms with projections and historical artifacts that allow you to discover the chocolate production process up close. In addition, the museum’s location inside a restored colonial mansion near Mexico City’s Zócalo adds further historical context, making it a complete cultural experience for both locals and visitors.

What Will You See at Choco Story Zócalo?

Located in a privileged area next to the Metropolitan Cathedral, this museum offers an educational experience for all ages. Thanks to a modern audio guide system, you’ll take a journey through time covering the following areas:

Pre-Hispanic Origins: learn about the legend of cacao as the “food of the gods” and its importance in Mesoamerican cultures
The Meeting of Two Worlds: discover how cacao reached European courts and adapted to the tastes of the Old Continent
From Bean to Bar: learn about the industrialization stage and the evolution of contemporary chocolate-making
Demonstration: enjoy a live demonstration by a master chocolatier, who will prepare an authentic praline or filled chocolate in front of you

And of course, no visit would be complete without a tasting! You’ll get to try chocolate made with the highest-quality Mexican cacao to end your visit on a delicious note.
